    Time Event
    10:33a
When the moon hits your eye like a big optical illusion
The moon will look huge tonight thanks to a quirk in our visual system, which evolved to avoid leopards and track down prey on an open savannah instead of correctly estimating the size of heavenly bodies near the horizon line.   Or for those of you who prefer creation science, Jesus will temporarily inflate the moon with his holy bicycle pump as it rises this evening, but it should be deflated and back to normal by the time its high in the sky.  Glory!

Ice is nice, and would suffice
So is this salt, white dirt or ice?  The Phoenix probe has been scooping up soil to feed into its onboard instruments for analysis, and after one of the scoops they uncovered this white stuff.  I'm betting its water ice, but we'll know for sure when and if it sublimates into the atmosphere.

Haute couture for the fashionable astronaut
NASA's got a new line of spacesuits.  The casual look for lounging around during launches and while trekking around in your space capsule (left), and the sporty, yet elegant, outdoor look for trips on the lunar surface (right).
